Established around 1710 at the foot of the steephead valley of Les Planches in Mesnay, close to Arbois (Jura), this paper mill would mark the beginning of a local and national cardboard business during the era of the industrial revolution. An association for the preservation of our heritage has kept the site alive to this day.

The visit includes a museum-workshop explaining the process of cardboard-making and the machines used to this effect.

In the same building, the Maison de l'Abeille (Bee Museum) explains all you need to know about bees and their environment. Thanks to an automatised panoramic beehive, the visitor can observe first-hand how bees work.

Both the Ecomusée du Carton and the Maison de l’Abeille belong to the Juramusées network.
